Judge Edward M. Emmett is currently serving as County Judge of Harris County, Texas. As the County Judge, Ed is the county executive of the nation's third most populous county with almost 4 million residents. Upon becoming County Judge in 2007, Ed scaled back his activities in The Emmett Company, a multi-faceted consulting firm. However, he remains available for a wide variety of assignments through MTLA so long as they do not conflict with his role as County Judge.
Judge Emmett's experience includes service in the Texas Legislature, Commissioner of the Interstate Commerce Commission, and president of The National Industrial Transportation League. Ed is recognized around the world for his expertise in transportation policy and he has spoken to conferences in more than 15 countries.
As County Judge, Ed is the Director of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. His performance before, during and after Hurricane Ike hit the Texas coast earned him numerous accolades and he is widely sought as an advisor and speaker on emergency planning and crisis management.
